(KIA - POW) - Shot down by German FW 190 fighters 8 km northeast of Bitburg at Bickendorf, Germany on 15 August 1944 on mission #229 to Wiesbaden, Germany in 427th BS B-17G #42-31423 Jigger Rooche (GN-M) that exploded in the air. Sgt Schlotterbeck was not on that mission as the crew had been reduced to 9 men.
