Lt Ashwell never had an assigned crew.

Lt Ashwell flew thirteen missions as CoPilot with four different crews:

• Lt George W. Shope Crew - Six missions (53 (25 July 43), 54, 55, 56, 57(A) & 59)
• Lt Burt J. Cardwell Crew - One mission (62)
• Lt Curtis M. Olsen Crew - Two missions (63 & 64)
• Lt Howard C. Ness Crew - Four missions (73, 74, 77 & 78)

Lt Ashwell then became a Lead Crew CoPilot and Pilot on twenty-one missions:

• As Lead Crew CoPilot: Nine missions - 83 (16 Nov 43), 116, 244, 247, 303, 313, 315, 322 & 327
• As Lead Crew Pilot: Twelve missions - 248, 311, 317, 325, 331, 333, 338, 342, 349, 353, 357 & 363 (20 April 1945).
