The crew flew 35 missions from March 26, 1944 to June 20, 1944. Our B-17
Iza Vailable Too (#42-97254) was destroyed May 7, 1944, when the #3 engine caught fire on our final approach, following a Berlin raid. It burned up on the grass off the runway.
Not in the photo is
Ralph Sudderth, Jr. (B). He flew for several missions then was assigned to the Lead Bombardier Group. The Crew Chief of
Iza Vailable Too was
Bob Heiliger.
