303rd Bomb Group (H) History

May 10th    

May 10, 1944
303rd BG: Mission to Zwischenahm, Germany was recalled. Thirty-six 303rd BG B-17s were dispatched and assembled as scheduled, but the 384th BG did not rendezvous with the 41st CBW-A Group. The mission was recalled thirteen miles off the enemy coast.

STRATEGIC OPERATIONS 8th AF: A bomber mission to Germany is abandoned dur to deteriorating weather.

May 10, 1945
303rd BG: Shortly after VE-DAY, near this date, the 303rd Bomb Group dispatched several low level flights over Europe, to give the ground personnel a first hand view of the results of the bombing missions that they contributed to. This was as a way of showing appreciation for the ground personnel's efforts.

STRATEGIC OPERATIONS 8th AF: Effective this date, Lieutenant General James H Doolittle, Commanding General, is relieved of duty in the ETO and assigned to HQ AAF in Washington, DC; he is relieved by Major General William E Kepner.
